With the LDAP module you are able to authenticate your users against a directory service like e.g. Active Directory (AD) or OpenLDAP.
You can configure, if the authentication should be switched to LDAP completely, or you can set a rank order to which the authentication providers should be checked (e.g. first LDAP, then, if the user doesn't exist there, the local VIMP user database will be checked).
