Why do you charge the transcoding service by minute and not by GB?

Editions: Light, Community, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate, Corporate
Versions: all

The ViMP Transcoding Service is charged by minute. This is the most transparent way and makes charges predictable.

The input files size doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of a video. The input bitrate doesn't actually play a huge factor in how long a video takes to transcode.

HD videos will be charged twice, because the econding of a HD videos requires approximately 8 times the resources of a SD video. That's why each minute of a HD video (1280x720px and bigger) will be charged as 2 minutes.

If you want to transcode HD videos it's important that the input video already has HD quality.
